An Introduction From Me
Clinic News
I’ve been busy learning….
Over the last couple of months I have done some additional learning to keep up to date with the current evidence regarding the benefits of massage treatments. I completed a series of interactive webinars which were run by “The ST School” (a soft tissue training provider based in Exeter) and were delivered by Anna-Maria Mazzieri and Eric Purves. Both Anna-Maria and Eric are experts within the field of massage and in-particular the benefits of treating people with chronic pain conditions.
The content of the webinars was to help understand how best to treat people with chronic pain, fibromyalgia and non-specific lower back pain. It was really good to hear how massage treatments can help people with these conditions, understanding how to help people to talk openly about ho they feel, relax and move in a safe way. All this can help people living with chronic pain to live with their conditions and hopefully feel like they are back in control of their lives.
If you are suffering with ongoing pain then feel free to contact me to see how I can help.
Next month I am also continuing with learning and attending a 2 day course in Birmingham. The course is titled Demoneuromodulation (DMN) and is focused on how touching the skin can interact with the nerves in our bodies and therefore influence pain. I am very much looking forward to the course as it will build on what I learned in my recent webinars. I’ll hopefully know lots more after my course and I’ll put more information in the next newsletter.
Back in May I spent the day treating runners at the Bewl Water reservoir run. People were running either a 10km, a half, full or ultra marathon. It was a busy day with runners seeking a treatment after their run. Conditions on the day were challenging but everybody said what a great event it was and really well organised. I will be back down at Bewl Water on the 9th September working with LA Sports Therapy and i’m very much looking forward to it.
